Beautiful Quilts, Beautiful Art
Qulits. We use them here in our home often. I’ve heard about quilting through a dear friend who owns a cheeky quilt shop. But, after being told to try photographing textiles from another intuitive friend, I’d thought I’d see if she would let me take some photos of her extraordinary quilt projects. Turns out there was a local quilt show this weekend where I saw art blossoming like a beautiful spring day.
And, did I mention yet how incredibly proud of my friend I am for earning an award at the show for her works!
The thought, time and creativity presented at this show was humbling.
The colors, textures, designs were wildly vivid and exploding with pizazz.
The shapes, swatch choices and detail were clever and beyond impressive.
I kept asking myself how long it must take to create these masterpieces. And just like any great piece of art, countless hours (I’m talking thousands) add up to years of heart and dedication.
It took me nearly two hours to meander through the show, paying close attention to the details poured into these quilts.
For some it’s a hobby, but others it’s their life blood.
I even unexpectedly got to meet a famous (and young might I add) quilter who’s also loved the arts her entire life and randomly started quilting full-time in 2008. As a fellow creative, hearing her other endeavors inspires me to just keep exploring. Now she’s a successful business owner, author, speaker and maintains an immense following throughout the quilting community.
You just never know what you’re going to find out there when you open your mind and heart to exploring the unknown!
